OMG Dio was sooooo fun ^_^
On Tuesday evening me and Chris got the coach down and ate cookies omnomnom, we were talking for a while and then we got to the "we should go to sleep stage" but realised we only had half an hour till Kate got on so we'd stay awake for her. Then Kate got on, so we talked for a little bit and fortuantly Kate and Chris got on well despite never meeting :D so then I managed to get sleep for about 3 hours, which beats the one hour I got on the way to Plastic Tree because there were no annoying crying babies on the coach this time YeY ^_^!
So we got to London, and were in teh que before 7am I was 17th, Kate 18th and Chris 19th in the line. Some people who had slept out 2 days were complaining about all the drug addicts and scary people that had been bothering them the last few night and it's like "yeah it's Camden, what did you expect?" because Camden's lovely during the day but I think I'd only sleep out two nights in Camden for Vidoll....ok I'd sleep out like a week or more for Vidoll xD. But I got to see some people I knew again, especially Kit and Jenni in the morning. So we all had breakfast subways and hot chcolate which were nice and more importantly WARM!! Then Kacey <333 came along to join the que which was epic as I hadn't seen her since Miyavi and somewhere along the line we ended up getting handcuffed together xD because Kate had brought rope for An Cafe and had decided it should be handcuffs for Dio (good choice) so we randomly got handcuffed to people and things whilst a bemused Chris looked on.
We also were all suffering form the fact that it was OMG freezing which ended up in us going to Sainsbury's and buying 2 pairs of socks for 75 pence as we all had freezing cold feet. It worked nice and warm feet.
In the que me and Kate made awesome Dio banners, we both drew the chibis because we had them in two different outfits as we had two different banners and then we wrote Dio - Distraught Overlord- and the date, country, venue etc on them. Then everyone got told to move, and that we weren't allowed to que till 5pm O_o which seeing as people had been sleeping for 2 nights and no one had said anything at Plastic Tree when there were more people at the time we were told was rather strange. So we went to get a warm drink as out names were on the list and then booked into the hostel and finished our banners and got into gig gear. Because we were all doing makeup and stuff we ended up painting Chris's nails so that he didn't feel left out *nod nod*. Then got back to the que and got some tea and very excited about Dio :D!
So we got into the venue, and got t-shirts, I had my jacket around my waist, a random strip of fabric that was keeping my stomach warm as my top was short and my jeans were low rise so a bit of flesh was exposed which is not good in winter and my t-shirt all tied in some odd (but thankfully sercure) fashion around my waist. Today I realised my jacket actually got ripped >_> but it was not very expensive and easy enough to sew up without being too noticable as it's a tartan jacket and on a seam. That's the first time my clothes have got that badly damaged at a gig as it's quite a big rip but thankfully all fixable.
So then Dio took over 2 hours to come out O_o, it was annoying as no one told us why it was taking so long (I highly doubt it was Dio themselves probably just mangement and venue) my throat was already begining to hurt from the calling for Dio. So just after 9 they came out and my gosh were they worth the wait. They had thier latest outfits on which means Mikaru's wings xD and started with Carry Dawn which was awesome to rock out to, I don't think my feet actually touched the ground during the first few songs as everyone was moving so much and Mikaru did the cool growl/snarl Mikaru thing! They also played some songs from thier new album but everything they played rocked.
Also those banners me and Kate made, well Mikaru too them put one on the drumkit and the other on a microphone by the drums which was awesome as it means Dio apreciate our work and they stayed there through most the gig (things fall down eventually) but that made us super happy of course 8D
I got pushed to the front which was win, me, Kacey and Kate figured later on that they were either over sexed or under sexed because they were getting molested alot (and mostly loving it) put it this was my thigh fetish was very happy xP. I also got to touch Mikaru's wings and all the guitars (as well as them obviously). At one point curiosity got the better of me and I lifted up Erina's leg warmer things slightly to see what shoes he was wearing and they were very big platforms.
Ivy was amazing on bass, not just as a bassist but at one point his strap broke and he played his bass on the floor (like you'd hold a chello) as if he totally meant to and it was all part of the set liek a real pro, then the moment the rift place ran to the roadie to get it fixed. It wasn't the only strap problem he had that night, it kept falling off. Another funny part with Ivy was when he nearly fell backwards but manged to stay upright, it was like "sorry Ivy nice try at trying to cover it up but we all saw that!" XD. He's so epic :D
Erina and Kei were no less awesome, Erina sure knows how to head bang and is a man ;) lovely guitar too, me and Kate were like *strokey strokey* but we didn't interupt with the playing of course, we also stroked Kei's guitar and Ivy's bass. It was almost unreal headbanging with Dio but so awesome, even though it was a smaller venue and crowd to what they're used to in Japan they still put on an amazing show. Mikaru also held my hand and they all touched my hands and some held them but Mikaru held mine more than once because the others couln;t really as they have instruments. One of the oddest expierences ever came when suddenly my face was shoved into Mikaru's crotch by him thrusting forwards and the audience pushing me into him (I dunno if intentionally) literally I couldn't move or see for crotch hahahaha! My face was right up against his jeans, and if he wasn't wearing clothes I would have practically been giving him a blow job. It was like what do I do?!? Because I really couldn't move anyway. Then when he stepped backwards I just saw Kate in hysterics at me xD. It's a great claim to fame.
We all of course sang along to God Forsaken which was just so epic as they really intereact with the audience. Also Mikaru's English was adorable "We are happy to be here...." *pauses whilst trying to remember what the word is* "TODAY!" and he also solved the arguement because some people in the line had been like it's pronounced "Die-o" not "De-o" and Mikaru got us all shouting "D. I. O. - Dio" (pronounced De-o" whch made me laugh at all those who had been like it's Die-o yopu're saying it wrong!
His voice was brilliant throughout, getting both the deep melty vocals and the screams out perfectly and the instrumentalist were amazing, Ivy even got hit buy Mikaru's wing which was rather lolsome bless him. I really loved thier outfits too, when they're up close you realise how much detail there is.
Then Denka did this awesome drum solo, easily the best i've ever seen and heard my face was just like =O throughout and I was entranced, after he went off I just turned to Kate and went "He's not human is he?" and seriously that was amazing. He now joins Tero, Izumi and Ryo on the list of most amazing drummers ever (ok every drummer I listen to is talented no denying it but these three stand out the most). Maybe Denka needs his own list as I think the others are humans xD. If I even had a miniscule of Denka's drumming ability I'd be soo happy (and talented) XD.
For the final song it was so awesome band and audience went even crazier (and Mikaru had taken his shirt off by now) and Ivy let me and Kate play his bass *___* we had been stroking it, and then he let me strum it whilst he still moved the fingers for the chords and I think kate strummed it once or twice but it was like OMG I'm playing Ivy's bass this is sooo awesome <33333 It was just too epic for words as he was still playing it on the frets. I've played bass with Ivy O_O WOW!!!
I also got soaked with water at the end >xD this always happens to me at J-rock gigs, Kyo's got me most soaked though as in pretty much the whole bottle of water over me XD
Then after the concert we found Chris as I had lost him the moment Dio had come out as everyone surged forwards and we waited outside for the band. It was really annoying that the manager bitch was being such a twat. So we got to walk past them and say thank you which is really good as I don't always get to thank the band for an awesome time after gigs. Then I said "I wish I could have got autographs" because the silly women wasn't letting anyone get them, but then Mikaru looked up at "autographs" even tthough I hadn't been talking to him and held out his hand so I gave him my notebook and he signed it as he was on the end of the line, smiled widely at me, handed it back and said "Yeah!" with a huge grin on his face which was amazing!!! Then the woman got stressy but I was too on a "OMG I have Mikaru's autograph" high to care what she said. I wouldn't have tried to get one but as Mikaru held out his hand and the way he gave it back to me obviously meant he wanted to. Wish I could have got the other but that woman was being a bitchn and plus the band were tired and proba wanted to sleep, I'm just so lucky and thankful to even have Mikaru's.
There will probably be people who will be like "Oh well I got photos or I got all thier autographs" but I really don't care XD
Then we got back to the hostel and all spazzed whilst trying not to wake other people in the room up then crashed out.
The next morning we said goodbye to Kit and Jenni, still odd them coming as less than a month ago Kit was like, "me and Jenni are not going, we don't like them" yet then like a week ago they told me they were coming, but then again people are fickle like suddenly my f-list has become full with many people who didn't like Dir en Grey yet the moment they come back to the UK are all like OMG Diru, I love them I'm thier biggest fan etc.
We took Chris to the Japan centre and then he had to go catch his train so we were in Euston for a bit before me and Kate went back to Camden where I brought some epic trousers, and they have a sort of half skirt thing that can be detached so I was wearing just the skirt part over red trousers on Friday. It's really awesome but makes far more sense when I put it on so I'll try and remeber to take a photo next time. I also got a new Hello Kitty phone charm...this time it;s hippo Hello Kitty <3. I got a bit of Christmas shopping done, and had yummy yummy food from Little Japan (my fav noodle place in Camden) I couldn't decide what I wanted so the woman was like I'll give you a bit of everything which solved the problem of desicions and hunger very well. Then we went back to Picadilly to go to China town as Kate needed Milky (who doesn't) as the Japan centre had been all out :(. Then we were wandering around because I needed a toursity sgift hop for a present (fortuantly London has many of these) and we spotted a sign that said manga. So naturally being us we were curious and had time so went towarsd the sign.
We then found Tokyo Toys which is a shop of win! Full of anime and Final Fantasy stuff and mine and Kate's inner otaku's were vey happy. I brought a Cloud Strife Advent Children pencil case/bag thing which chances are I won't use as a pencil case but it appealed to my inner Cloud fangirl and a present for someone. Also one of the shop assitajnts was awesome because he was called Hideki and alughed at me not liking Naruto when I made a comment about it and also when I brought my stuff he didn't say thank you he said "arigato" and I said "arigatou gozaimasu" back. I've never had that before in any manga/anime shop. But yes now I have dscovered it I will defo be heading back there when I'm next in London (and stealing Hideki).
So then got to the coach station, the coach back wasn't that interesteing apart from when we were leaving London as I got to see the Christmas lights, so I got a little sleep and then got back about half 11, had a shower then just flunked. Also I found out that I had a huge bruise on my thigh which wasn;t surprising, but Kate had mentioned that she has found cuts on her arms and I said prob from the speakers because of the type they were, but I found cuts on my stomach, arms and hips that I had not had before the concert. Wtf fangirls? Oh well every cut and brusise was worth it and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.
Amusingly in the que I had been talking with people about Dir en Grey and it was pretty much guarenteed they would come back because they've just announced and American tour and then when i got back and online it's like lo and behold a Diru tour :) and Mindless Self Indulgence are on it too, I saw them at Lowlands and the bassist is the awesome and the lead singer has good stage prescence and was really funny... I'll be so tempted to give him stroopwaffle though xD and as it's in Liverpool it's only gonna cost me the ticket (no booking fees) and a t-shirt because I like t-shirts and I already have one Diru one. Pam is coming too which will be awesome, and I think Chris is also so that will be a win night at the end of Jan and plus the venue is really close to mine :).
Ah good times, and now I better get some food... though I'm not really hungry. May do my essay some more, last one :D! Oh and Pam this is an update, i'll make sure there are more for you >8D
